Zapyškis St. John the Baptist church

In 1578 the voivode of Navahrudak Povilas Sapiega, who owned large plots of land and forests, built a church in Sapiegiškis (later renamed to Zapyškis). This unique, 16th century gothic church is one of the oldest brick buildings in Lithuania.

Since the beginning of 20th century, this church is no longer used for religious purposes. In 2002 it was given a Cultural monument status. In recent years, the church has become a venue for cultural and music events.
